"Paeon" des dieux, la pivoine obtenue par Leto, mère de Apollonia

croyaient que Apollo est souvent travestisse de "Paeon" et a chanté

-SIMBOLISMO- La splendida Peonia,
massima espressione di una radiosa bellezza ornamentale, veniva considerata
nell'Antico Oriente la "Regina di tutti i fiori" e venerata come

Con la sua esotica parvenza,
fulgida, appariscente, lussureggiante, elegante... incarna fedelmente amore e

Dal profumo delizioso, inebriante e
di lunga durata, definita "Rosa senza spine" dagli Europei, nel
linguaggio floreale simboleggia legami e sentimenti profondi... Regalare una
Peonia significa voler ringraziare la persona che la riceve, per la calma e la
serenità che essa trasmette. Per una sposa regale, il bouquet di Peonie,
ottenuto dal mix di tutte le gradazioni del rosa, costituisce l'apoteosi del
Romanticismo, nonché simbolo di giovinezza e di un amore appena nato. Il fiore
bianco, invece, indica la purezza delle fanciulle mentre, quello di colore
rosso, la seducente femminilità.
-CARATTERISTICHE- La Peonia, che
appartiene alla famiglia delle "Ranuncolaceae", è originaria
dell'Asia, dell'America Nord-Orientale e del Sud-Europa. Il portamento della
pianta cambia a seconda della varietà. In natura esistono specie
"erbacee" perenni e "arbustive" o "arboree" che,
al contrario, presentano foglie caduche, con particolari fiori molto colorati e
odorosi.
-MITOLOGIA- La Peonia era già
conosciuta presso il popolo greco, che credeva alle sue proprietà
taumaturgiche.
Nell'antica Grecia, la nascita
della Peonia fu al centro di molteplici versioni. Forse il mito più diffuso
narra che "Paeon", medico degli Dei, ottenne la Peonia da Leto, madre
di Apollo- Dio della medicina, della verità e dell'Arte- sul monte Olimpo. I
Greci pensavano che Apollo spesso si travestisse da "Paeon" e
cantasse canzoni di lode (dette "Peana") a se stesso. Con il tempo,
"Paeon" divenne un epiteto di Apollo, per la sua qualità di guarire
e, pertanto, propiziato come Dio della guarigione.
Fin dall'antichità, la radice di
questa pianta fu riconosciuta dalla medicina tradizionale Cinese e, in seguito,
Giapponese per alleviare i sintomi di alcune malattie.
